ROLE SUMMARY
The Enterprise Data Solutions and Engineering (EDSE) is a Pfizer Digital organization responsible for the development and management of all data, analytic tools, and platforms across the enterprise – from manufacturing to global product development, to commercialization and for all Pfizer countries. One of the team’s top priorities is the development of data products, data solutions, and Business Intelligence which will serve as the engine for the company’s digital transformation.
As a member of EDSE’s Commercial and Real-World Data (RWD) team, the Manager Data Solutions Delivery Engineering will be a key member of the Global Real World Data team and partners closely with the scientific and clinical team members, applying technical, software development and database architecture knowledge to support in-house and externally hosted Real World Data Assets and Analytical Applications to meet the needs of internal and external customers. This colleague will work with RWD partners and internal/external RWE collaborators to ensure that the data is current and accurate and support the business implementation and information facilitating the realization of targeted benefits and outcomes. Works with key partners to ensure continuous improvement and innovation based on emerging technologies and opportunities to advance Pfizer as the industry leader in RWD/RWE.
This colleague will report directly to RWD Enablement Lead and will collaborate closely with the other senior leaders within EDSE and senior leaders across the various business units and enterprise functions (e.g. Across Digital, RWE leads and RWE Scientists, Legal, Procurement, etc.).
Reporting to the Real World Data Enablement Lead, the chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting global real-world data assets across the RWD business, which also includes responsibilities such as:
- Develop & Deploy technologies that enable real world data science & analytical capability
- Provide infrastructure to decrease time to insight, improve accessibility for decision and actionable outcomes
- Maintains up-to-date L1 to L3 support for Real World Data Assets supporting RWE and RWD users across the organization; creates schemas, designs, develops, tests, and implements stored procedures and triggers; conducts tunes application and query performance; assists with the development and administration of data warehouses; writes code to automate database tasks using MySQL, Oracle, SciDB, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Designer/2000, Cloud services – AWS, Google etc
- Collaborate with RWE & RWD users to establish RWD quality, Ontologies, knowledge graphs process and implementation
- Install software and configure database servers, deploy and implement applications throughout internal and external sites
- Apply periodic software & database updates while providing hands on application support
- Develop, monitor and maintain database management system procedures and sets appropriate security levels
- Designs and execute database & server backup and restore processes
- Establish application and database disaster recovery protocols
- Act as an escalation point for software and/or database critical problems requiring attention and assistance
- Works closely with Infrastructure, Platform and other digital functions to ensure fully integrated data and informatics capabilities for Real World Data
- Collaborates with the global Business Technology function to develop requirements and obtain best services from external service providers for data and technology services.
- Work with strategic partners to develop and innovate technologies and information access that provides a strategic advantage to Pfizer
Professional Experience and Educational Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) in technical, scientific, statistics or related discipline with a comprehensive understanding of RWD and/or analytics systems. Advanced degree in business or information technology (PH.D, MS, or MBA) with 2+ years of related pharmaceutical or healthcare experience is preferred
- 5+ years of experience as DBA; Diverse systems, cloud infrastructure, analytics platforms and development tools experience, including Unix/Solaris, Windows, client/server, databases, web technologies a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in the areas of biomedical research, technology tools and platforms, data governance and management and integration.
- Strong technical knowledge of technology, data and data standards
- Data Modelling for defining and analyzing data requirements.
- ETL Processes associated with database usage and data warehousing.
- GitHub web-based version control repository and internet hosting services
- Confluence, JIRA and Project management (Agile, Waterfall) tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of external RWD / Big Data partners and innovative use case landscape is preferred.
- Passion on serving customers and understanding/delivering against their needs.
- Ability to lead and manage change, including a track record of flexible, out-of-the-box thinking and responding effectively to rapidly changing requirements.
