ROLE SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Agile Development Lead is charged with implementing Agile best practices across the community of Agile teams across Platform DevOps. The role ensures our processes are in line with the latest industry and Pfizer guidance on Lean and Agile management methodologies. The role works with the Agile Acceleration Office to receive best practice, before spreading it within our team. The role oversees contract Scrum Master hiring, sourcing and management to build a core/flex team capability and support burst demand for global solution delivery.
The role requires a superior understanding and capability of Agile methodologies to advise and evaluate teams performance and operational improvement.
In addition, the Senior Manager, Agile Development Lead is accountable for helping Pfizer Digital Product Owners and Development Teams maximize the business value delivered.
Working with a talented team of functional/technical experts, they are key proponents of Agile and Lean practices and values, using these to help drive forward the program of digital transformation that empowers Pfizer’s customer-oriented vision.
This position requires an individual with a proven ability to lead/coach teams across a variety of technologies, delivering solutions that meet and exceed stakeholder expectations.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee multiple agile projects as a Scrum Master in addition to fostering the standards, practices & implementation of agile methodologies across Pfizer Digital working in close partnership with the Agile Acceleration Office and the Engineering Practice Lead.
This means:
Provide leadership and accountability for the successful implementation and operational improvement derived from Agile practices.
Dotted-line manage other Scrum Masters from different teams, ensuring that they are aligning to the operational principles as defined by this role & hold teams to account if standards are not being met.
Recognized internally and in the industry as technical/functional expert in commercial application design and development disciplines. Leverage industry and internal business & technical knowledge to ensure the investments made into all DSE delivered products and platforms align closely to the upcoming business needs and demands. Predict market and internal trends and anticipate the needs of customers so that technical roadmaps and deliverables are timely.
The Senior Manager, Agile Development Lead will also act as the Scrum Master for multiple projects that are often complex and global in nature. To ensure their success they will be expected to:
Plan the Scrum implementations effectively, ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team and that stakeholders have been properly engaged to understand the process and what is required of them.
Lead and coordinate Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives on concurrent projects.
Coach Product Owners, helping them create clear and concise Product Backlog Items, ensuring they know how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value.
Understand the project’s functional/technical requirements and provide leadership to the functional/technical teams, helping them to solve some of the more complex challenges and engendering a collaborative, knowledge sharing environment.
Establish a working culture such that the Scrum team can be as effective as possible, addressing team dynamics, and ensuring a good relationship between the development team and product owner
Support the development team in maintaining a steady delivery rate, protecting them from outside interruptions, and removing impediments to their progress.
Actively promote Scrum and other delivery methodologies within the organization, working with other Scrum Masters to increase effectiveness/adoption of Agile, Lean, Kanban and other emergent best practices around Continuous Delivery, Test Automation, Customer Experience and Product Usability.
Engage with the DevOps movement in DSE and ensure the model’s success, building a culture of shared responsibility and transparency leading to higher quality and quicker delivery of output. Help instill a culture of measurement, learning and feedback. Help establish metrics and measurement strategies to drive improvements in quality outcomes on your projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant experience as an information technology professional in roles such as a software developer, technical project manager, systems administrator, database administrator, systems engineer, computer engineer or support specialist, engineering lead, technical team lead.
Minimum of 7 years experience as a scrum master, working with functional/technical teams of contract or colleague resources
