About the role
You will be providing hands-on leadership for our R&D team in Greece, responsible for a large variety of current and future projects: from command line utilities for mission-critical operating systems to modern server, desktop, mobile and web applications. As our engineering organization grows, you will ensure we keep the talent bar high and help grow the skills and capabilities of your teams. You will also maintain correct staffing, staff development and succession planning, and supervise project deliveries.
Principal responsibilities:
- Build and manage a cross-functional R&D Center of Excellence in Athens.
- Work with product owners and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into detailed software specifications.
- Work with the program management organization to ensure software is delivered according to the requirements, on time and within budget.
- Work with the HR department to build and implement hire programs geared towards enterprise software development.
- Collaborate with other leaders within Global R&D to maintain our common strategic vision, R&D processes, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in commercial system software development.
- 3+ years of experience managing software development teams of at least 5 people.
- 5+ years of experience in an object-oriented language, such as Java or C++.
- Experience in Agile development principles.
- Experience in Atlassian stack.
- Experience with the modern development and DevOps principles: REST, JavaScript, Cloud, VMs, containers, CI/CD.
- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
