We are looking for a talented Payment Engineer. As a Payment Engineer, you will join the Payments Applications Team within the Core Banking Platforms Unit and will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and configuring critical payment applications. The role focuses on ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of payment systems, providing day-to-day application support, troubleshooting incidents, and participating in upgrades, integrations, and payment-related IT projects. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with internal IT and business teams, as well as external vendors, to support the organization’s transactional banking services.

You will be joining a FinTech project for a dynamic banking organization active in seven countries, with total assets of €60.0 billion and 13,512 employees. With a total network of 700 branches in Greece and abroad, it offers a comprehensive range of financial products and services to its retail and corporate customers. It holds a strategic position in retail and business banking in Bulgaria and Serbia, as well as offering distinguished Wealth Management services in Cyprus, Luxembourg and London and is also present in Romania. Until now, they had build the biggest Omnichannel in the area of technology in the GR market regarding the FinTech area. They had already implement more than 10 Scrum Teams and now they expand their portfolio of services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and configure critical payment applications, ensuring their smooth and reliable day-to-day operation.
- Troubleshoot application incidents, identify root causes, and coordinate timely resolution of technical issues.
- Participate in application upgrades, system integrations, testing, and implementation activities.
- Collaborate with internal IT and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective application and system solutions.
- Work closely with external vendors to resolve application-related issues and support system enhancements and upgrades.
- Contribute to IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives within the payments and transactional banking environment.
Required Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of Linux and SQL.
- Experience or understanding of system interfaces and application integrations within complex IT environments.
- Ability to support the configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of business-critical applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external vendors.
- Business-oriented and functional mindset, with the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into application/system needs.
- Ability to participate in testing, implementation, and integration activities for new requirements and system changes.
- Fluency in Greek and English.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Previous experience with payment systems or banking applications.
- Familiarity with international payment ecosystems and standards such as SWIFT, SEPA, and TIPS.
- Understanding of payment messages, flows, and formats.
- Previous experience working with payment system vendors.
- Development or scripting knowledge; coding experience is advantageous but not required.
- Previous exposure to financial services, banking, or transactional systems.
Salary (Ind.): 1700-2025 € / Per month Gross
