The AWS Solution Engineering lead will work with a team of cloud engineers, developers, and product specialist with the goal of building native cloud capabilities for all of Pfizer to consume.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The AWS Solution Engineering role provides senior level technical and design experience and will be key in ensuring Pfizer continues to leverage cloud native design patterns aligned with the organizations ability to modernize new and existing cloud-based solutions. The role will have ownership in establishing a secure, compliant, productive, and innovative cloud hosting environment.
The role will bring expert level experience in designing AWS cloud solutions and implementing infrastructure as code capabilities. This role will deeply influence how Pfizer Digital consumes and utilizes AWS hosting technologies in support of all business lines on a global scale and will be critical to the development and modernization of AWS cloud capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have strong demonstrable experience in working within an AWS environment along with developing solutions using infrastructure as code for application teams to consume.
Responsibilities include:
- Work in a cross functional, global engineering and service development team while creating internal engineering and development standards.
- Bring expert level knowledge in AWS cloud services with infrastructure design experience.
- Directly influence how their business consumes AWS cloud technologies with a bias towards repeatable cost-effective infrastructure design principles.
- Create modern cloud design patterns and help drive consumption of reusable patterns through partnership with creation centers.
- Collaborate with cloud engineers, developers, and product teams to build native cloud capabilities for Pfizer.
- Design and architect global standards for the deployment and management of AWS.
- Assist the engineering team establish cloud cost optimization best practices through policy as code.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in an enterprise IT setting, preferably one in a highly regulated industry such as banking/financial or healthcare/pharmaceutical.
- Expert-level knowledge of and experience with AWS infrastructure development, implementation, and sustaining support.
- Experience building and deploying cloud infrastructure using industry standard IaC capabilities such as Terraform.
- Excellent communicator, with an ability to influence horizontally and vertically across a large, complex, and matrixed organization. Adept at managing priorities to identify those outcomes with the greatest value for Pfizer.
- Customer centric mentality biased towards delivering value to Pfizer at the speed demanded by their business.
- Experience integrating application hosting needs with AWS infrastructure capabilities to build secure and well architected capabilities.
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstratable experience working in a DevOps environment with expert level knowledge in building, maintaining, and deploying infrastructure as code solutions.
- Experience building infrastructure as code capabilities using Terraform; configuration management experience using Ansible.
- Experience qualifying cloud services capabilities for use within a GxP regulated environment.
