Our client is an early-stage startup looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their small, dynamic team as one of their initial members. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing backend APIs using Python, contributing to the overall architecture and functionality of their platform. Their application focuses on interacting with various AI foundation models and large language models (LLMs), so experience in this space is a significant plus. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend APIs using Python
- Collaborate closely with the founding team and other developers, to define product requirements and shape technical solutions.
- Implement and integrate APIs with databases, third-party services, and various AI/LLM models.
- Ensure API security, reliability, and performance through thorough testing, monitoring, and optimization.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively to minimize downtime and disruption.
- Deploy and manage services using CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, contributing ideas and solutions that enhance their development process, particularly in AI and LLM spaces.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development. Proficient in Python, with strong experience in web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
- Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs. Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and their integration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and deploying/managing cloud-based applications.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) tools.
- Strong understanding of version control using Git and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AI models, foundation models, and LLMs is a big plus.
- Understanding of API security best practices. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-driven attitude.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing requirements.
