Our client is a leading company in the oil and gas sector and currently seeking an Applications and Operations Lead.

As the Lead of Application Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the management, optimization, and day-to-day operations of their enterprise applications, including Microsoft D365 CRM, Microsoft Business Central, and billing systems. You will also oversee vendor relations, change management, application support, and lead a team of application specialists to ensure seamless integration, performance, security and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Strategize the development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise applications, including Microsoft D365 CRM, Microsoft Business Central, and billing systems, aligning with business objectives and strategic directions.
• Lead application operations and support, ensuring swift resolution of incidents, service requests, and system maintenance tasks.
• Manage vendor relationships, from RFP and selection to performance monitoring, ensuring optimal service delivery according to agreed SLA.
• Implement and oversee change management processes related to enterprise applications, ensuring smooth transitions, quality of deliverables, and minimal disruptions to business operations.
• Manage the entire application lifecycle, including deployment, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure the successful delivery of application projects.
• Develop and enforce application governance policies, standards, and procedures to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance, always aligning with group policies and procedures.
• Identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization of application performance, scalability, reliability, and other quality attributes.
• Manage a team of application specialists, providing guidance, support, and fostering their professional growth.
• Manage application access using native or integrated (SSO) authentication providers and application-specific security schemes.

Position Profile

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on their our application landscape and recommending relevant initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the application operation function, driving initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality of service.
• Organize and deliver internal end-user training on application use.

Competencies:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in enterprise application operation & management, focusing on Microsoft enterprise applications and Azure.
• Proficiency in application lifecycle management, including deployment, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Strong vendor management skills, including contract negotiation, change management, and performance evaluation.
• Experience with planning, executing, and providing quality assurance on scheduled operations by 3rd party vendors.
• Thorough understanding of change management principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to navigate complex technical landscapes and drive innovation.
• Energy & Utilities industry experience is desirable.

Education Level:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• A master’s degree in an IT-related field is desirable.

Other Skills / Experience:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP) are advantageous.
• Related Microsoft certifications, such as D365 Business Central, D365 CRM, Azure etc.
