Job Summary

Our Client is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to serve as the Department Head for their core infrastructure and software delivery platforms. This role requires a seasoned engineer who bridges the gap between software development and operational reality, possessing deep expertise in managing hybrid environments that span both modern cloud infrastructure and complex on-premises deployments. You will be the primary architectural owner for automating their delivery ecosystem, responsible for designing and implementing resilient, secure infrastructure-as-code solutions and managing the build lifecycles for mission-critical and Enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Department Head Role & Strategic Ownership: Set technical for the Software Delivery department (IaC,CI/CD, configuration management, deployment artifacts) and manage personnel.
• Commissioning Strategy: Turn client requirements into production-ready configuration bundles.
• Product Validation Authority: Establish end-to-end validation standards ,guaranteeing that all delivered environments meet production level performance, compliance and flawless delivery.
• Service Lifecycle Design Ownership: You are responsible for ensuring that standardized, automated procedures for future updates, security patching, and reliable backup/restore mechanisms and well established networking (VPN, routing, LB, firewall) are delivered as part of the initial build.
• Java Ecosystem Pipeline Leadership: Manage artifact repositories and automating the deployment of JAR/WAR files across varied runtime environments.
• Data Layer Provisioning & Management: Define and implement automation strategies for provisioning, configuring, and managing databases in various environments.
• Technical Mentorship & Escalation: Serve as the primary technical escalation point, provide mentoring to mid-level and junior engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and rigorous automation
standards.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in DevOps or Systems Engineering, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or senior role guiding infrastructure decisions.
• Core Technology Mastery: Expert proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform and Ansible preferred). Strong, proven administration skills in both Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments.
• Proactive Product Health: Expertise on monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) to maintain service health.
• Java Build Expertise: Hands-on experience managing the service lifecycle of complex Java applications (Java 11 or newer), including deep familiarity with JVM ecosystem tools and CI/CD integration (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Hybrid Environment Experience: Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure across both public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and on- premises data centers (VMware/Bare Metal). Understanding the networking complexities of hybrid connectivity is essential.
• Database & Scripting: Experience with automated provisioning and configuration of relational and/or NoSQL databases. Strong scripting abilities in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, translate complex requirements into executable infrastructure plans, and effectively mentor engineering teams in best practices.
