Purpose of the Role
Data and Analytics is a key enabler of their ambitious business strategy and the Data Engineer role is critical for their growing global organization. Working closely with the Head of Data & Analytics, this role will guide the business toward a modern cloud-based data architecture and engineering frameworkโbuilt on a unified data asset that powers global and local reporting, analytics, and AI adoption. The role will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure access to their data, driving the transition towards a data-driven culture across the organization.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Understands the decision-making process, workflows, and business and information needs of regional commercial and functional leads and their teams
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and data flows to ensure seamless data integration and efficient delivery of insights for stakeholders
- Collaborate with external consultants and third-party vendors to integrate specialized knowledge, tools, or solutions into the business, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Provide ongoing technical support for data flows, ensuring seamless integration and optimization of data pipelines, and collaborating with business users to align engineering solutions with data-driven decision-making processes across the organization
- Implement and manage data access controls, security protocols, and data integrity measures to ensure the privacy, compliance, and consistency of data across systems and platforms
- Coordinates with data scientists and BI developers to understand their information needs
- Interacts with IT application specialists (e.g., S/4Hana), external applications vendors and data providers to understand how information is stored, modeled, and tagged
- Develops frameworks and processes to ingest and analyze structured and unstructured information collected through different platforms and sources
- Works closely with global and regional heads and managers for knowledge sharing, mentoring, and training
- Stay up to date with the latest data engineering techniques, tools, and trends, and apply them to improve processes
- Help to foster cultural change towards a data driven culture and mindset

Key Functional Competencies & Relevant Experience
- Bachelorโs or Masterโs degree Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- At least 2 years of professional experience in a data engineering with a focus on building scalable and robust systems
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Fabric)
- Solid experience in data warehousing techniques and ETL processes, with a proven track record of building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines for large-scale data environments
- Proficient in SQL for data querying, processing, and integration tasks
- Demonstrated ability to engage both developers and business stakeholders (global, regional leads) to achieve target outcomes
- Ability to build data and analytics governance culture, and embed this in their teams and ways of working
- Hands-on experience connecting or integrating Power BI with SAP S/4HANA is a strong plus
- Fluent in English
